Germany’s Tropical Islands Resort, the world’s largest indoor water park, built inside an old airship hangar

    1. Looks impressive from afar. But the reviews were pretty mediocre opinions. Lots of food litter and insects feasting on them. Don’t take my word for it, never been.

    2. Would be interesting to see the energy bill.

Energy is very expensive here in Germany and the Tropical Islands Resort is said to consume (estimated) as much energy as 4000 households.

I’m going to get banned for this but… “The third Reich tidal wave comes to fruition?”

    4. I did a half marathon here – you got free entry afterwards, so you had the perfect post-race sauna and swim. I thought it was a pretty cool place – it’s huge, there’s a heated outdoor area, proper spa facilities, loads of food.

Dubai is probably building an indoor water park right now that is longer and even taller than this hangar haha!

    6. Went two years ago with my family. Even more cool than the water park aspect was it is a massive tropical greenhouse. So many plants are growing in there which could never grow outside of the equatorial band. It was absolutely stunning. It’s also a hotel and the rooms are nice. I don’t recommend the tents there though… the idea of camping inside of a huge tropical paradise like that is appealing but the tents are set up on sand… and the sand gets into everything.
